Communication or usage-related information
When you access our website, your Internet browser transmits data to our web server, which is operated by the WZW (School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan). The following data is recorded temporarily in a log file during an ongoing connection to communicate between your Internet browser and the web server:

  • IP address of the requesting computer
  • Date and time of access
  • Name, URL, and transmitted data volume of the accessed file
  • Access status (requested file transmitted, not found etc.)
  • Identification data of the browser and operating system used (if transmitted by the requesting web browser)
  • Website from which our site was accessed (if transmitted by the requesting web browser)

Data is processed in this log file as follows:
The log entries are continuously evaluated in order to identify attacks on the web server and respond appropriately to these. In individual cases, i.e. in the event of reported faults, errors, and security incidents, these are manually analyzed. Log entries older than seven days are anonymized by abbreviating the IP address. The anonymized logs are used to generate access statistics. The software used for this is operated locally by the WZW. The IP addresses contained in the log entries are not associated with any other data objects by the WZW which means that it is impossible for the WZW to trace this back to individual persons.

Automatic collection of non-personal data
If you access our website, non-personal data is collected automatically. This is data that cannot be assigned to a specific person, in other words this is not collected via automatic or manual registration. This is, for example, information on the Internet browser and operating system used; domain name of the website from which our website is accessed. We use this information to determine the appeal of our website and to improve its performance and content.
